The efficacy and function of an umbrella

Yishan is a very common Chinese medicine and also a very important medicinal material. We need to pay attention to it. An umbrella can be used in combination with other medicines, and we need to take them appropriately according to our physical condition. Let’s take a look at the main effects and functions of the traditional Chinese medicine Yibasan.

[Other names] Rock Valley Umbrella, Fennel Grass, Fennel Grass, Small Green Medicine, A Shou Chicken, Sun Needle, Huixin Grass

[Source] Medicinal material source: The plant body of the warm-climate macrophylla of the Moss family.

[Original morphology] The plant body is relatively large, bright green or brown-green. The stem is erect with obvious transverse rhizomes. The leaves at the lower part of the stem are small, scale-like, and closely attached to the stem. The top leaves are large, clustered like buds, obovate or tongue-shaped, 15-20mm long, 4-5mm wide, with short tips, differentiated edges, fine teeth on the upper part, in double rows, and sometimes inward-curved at the lower part; the midrib is as long as the leaf tip. The upper part of the leaf cells is hexagonal, the base is rectangular, and the walls are thin. Dioecious. The capsule stalk is purple-red, erect, and has multiple straight branches. The sporangium is cylindrical, drooping, and brown; the capsule teeth are two layers; the capsule cover is convex with a short beak; the spores are spherical and yellow-brown.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows in moist woodlands or in cracks in gravel beside streams.

[Properties] Identification by properties: This product is mostly shrunken, green or brown-green, and slightly shiny. The stem is 4-7cm long and has horizontal rhizomes. The leaves at the bottom of the stem are scaly, purple-red, and closely attached to the stem; the top leaves are large, clustered like a rosette, obovate or long tongue-shaped, 1-1.5cm long, 2-4mm wide, with fine teeth on the upper edge. The spore stalk is reddish yellow; the spore capsule is drooping. It has a faint smell and a slightly bitter and spicy taste.

[Chemical composition] The plant body of warm-weather giant moss contains volatile oils, phenols, flavonoids, organic acids, steroids, amino acids, sugars, glycosides and terpenes.

[Pharmacological action] 1. Effect on hemodynamics and myocardial metabolism: After intravenous injection of 0.3-1.0 g/kg of the alcohol permeate of Herba Cynoglossi (the concentrated external solution of the residual paste extracted with alcohol and ether and dialyzed) into anesthetized dogs, the blood pressure and total peripheral vascular resistance decreased, the cardiac output, cardiac index and cardiac stroke index increased, the heart rate slowed down, and the left ventricular work index and left ventricular efficiency remained unchanged. It may cause blood pressure reduction by dilating peripheral resistance vessels, reducing cardiac afterload and increasing cardiac stroke volume. Coronary blood flow increases temporarily, while coronary resistance decreases more permanently. There were no significant changes in myocardial oxygen, glucose, lactate, pyruvate and free fatty acid consumption and uptake rate. The fat-soluble phenol and fat-soluble acid of Herba Cynanchum wilfordii were converted into 0.5 g/kg of raw medicine and injected intravenously into anesthetized dogs. The fat-soluble phenol can significantly increase the coronary flow, which lasts for about 15 minutes. At the same time, the coronary resistance is significantly reduced, and the mean arterial pressure, heart rate, cardiac output and cardiac index are moderately decreased; the total peripheral resistance is only temporarily reduced; the cardiac output and cardiac index remain unchanged; the left ventricular work index and myocardial oxygen consumption are significantly reduced. However, fat-soluble acids had no significant effect on various hemodynamic parameters. However, there were no significant changes in myocardial consumption and uptake rate of glucose, lactate, pyruvate and free fatty acids, as well as left ventricular efficiency. Compared with the control group, the fat-soluble phenol in Herba Cynanchum has a significant increasing effect on the coronary flow of isolated rabbit hearts.

【Nature and flavor】 Pungent; Bitter; Neutral

【Functions and indications】Nourishes the heart and soothes the mind; clears the liver and improves eyesight. It is used for palpitations, neurasthenia, red and swollen eyes, coronary heart disease, hypertension, etc.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3-9g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application; or decoct it into a water solution for fumigation and washing.
