Persimmon calyx is very effective in treating hiccups, but many people don't grasp the details when boiling water. If you want to treat hiccups, you not only need to use this Chinese herbal medicine, but you should also take some cloves, ginseng and other herbs. Only when these herbs are put together can the medicinal value become more complete, and the problem of hiccups can be improved faster. It is best to take it after a meal.

Various Discussions

1. Zhu Zhenheng: The human yin energy is nourished by the stomach. When a person is injured, wood will carry the fire and rush straight up to the clear channel, causing cough and retching. The ancients believed that it was a cold stomach, so they used cloves and persimmon calyx, but they didn't know which one was for tonifying the deficiency and which one was for reducing fire. They couldn't clear the qi and eliminate phlegm, but only helped fire.

"Bencao Huiyan": Chen Zeshi said, "Danxi Weng said that the yin energy entering it should be nourished by the stomach." When the earth is injured, the wood will carry the corresponding fire and rush directly into the Wei channel, causing cough and retching. It should be treated with Zhu Ru Huang Lian Shi Di Tang, which refers to hot hiccups. "Ji Sheng" says that the Yang is exhausted in the lower part, and only the Yin remains. The Yin Qi will also escape, so hiccups will occur in the upper part. It should be treated with Ding Fu Ren Shen Shi Di Tang. This refers to hiccups caused by cold. According to the "Standard", the symptoms of hiccups include severe deficiency of yin and blood after vomiting and diarrhea due to typhoid fever, long-term illness, and postpartum care, and sudden reversal of yang energy, which causes hiccups from the bottom to the top. These hiccups can only be cured by a strong warming and tonifying medicine.
