[Source] It is the rhizome of Epimedium, Epimedium cordifolium or Epimedium sagittatum of the Berberidaceae family.

[Chemical composition] Epimedium root contains demethylicariin.

[Functions and indications] It is used to treat stranguria due to deficiency, leucorrhea, leucorrhea, irregular menstruation, aphrodisiacness in children, and carbuncle with pus but no ulceration.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 0.5-1 liang; or grind into powder.

[Additional prescription] ① Treat children with nystagmus and loss of sight until dusk: 0.5 liang of Epimedium Pi root, 0.5 liang of Wan Can Mo (slightly fried), 0.1 fen of Belamcanda chinensis, 0.1 fen of Licorice root (slightly roasted and fileted). Grind into powder. Use a sheep liver, cut it open, mix two qian of the medicine inside, tie it with a thread, use a bowl of black beans and a large cup of rice water, cook them, take them out, divide them into two doses, and take them with the juice.
