[Source] Medicinal material source: The rhizome of Polygonum sibiricum of the Polygonaceae family.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 6-20cm high. Has slender rhizomes. Stems obliquely upward or nearly erect, often branched from base. Leaves are alternate, with short petioles; leaf blades are slightly thick, nearly fleshy, lanceolate or oblong, glabrous, 5-8cm long, 5-15mm wide, with acute or obtuse apex and halberd-shaped or cuneate base. Inflorescence conical, terminal, 3-5cm long; bracts funnel-shaped; pedicels jointed in the middle and upper parts; flowers yellow-green, with short stalks; perianth 5-parted, lobes oblong, about 3mm long; stamens 7-8; styles 3, very short, stigma capitate. Achenes are oval, 3-ribbed, black, smooth and shiny. Flowering and fruiting season is autumn.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in saline wasteland or sandy saline soil.

【Functions and indications】 Dispel wind and clear away heat; promote diuresis and reduce swelling. Mainly used for red and swollen eyes; itchy skin; edema; ascites
