[Original form] Deciduous or semi-deciduous woody vine, 2-3m long. The root is cylindrical, woody and hard, and slightly curved. Old branches are gray, and small branches are brown. Simple leaves are alternate; leaves are leathery; petioles are 0.5-1cm long; leaf blades are ovate-lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, 5-12cm long, 1-3cm wide, with long acuminate tips, broad cuneate and rounded bases, with inconspicuous sparse teeth on the edges, green above, young leaves sometimes with light-colored markings on the upper side, slightly covered with white powder on the lower side, with 6-8 pairs of inconspicuous lateral veins. Flowers are dioecious; solitary in leaf axils or clustered, about 1 cm in diameter; 6-9 perianths, arranged in 3 whorls, the outer 3 smaller; 6-9 stamens, filament bases slightly fused, stamens embedded in hypertrophic receptacle sutures; pistil group spherical, 10-30 carpels, free, receptacle elongated to about 3-7 cm when fruiting. The small berries are spherical, 5-7mm in diameter, and bright red when ripe. The seeds are kidney-shaped and have a smooth seed coat. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruiting period is from July to October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in sunny low mountain slopes or ravine bushes at 300-1500m.

【Properties】 Identification by properties: The leaves are narrowly lanceolate, narrowly ovate-rectangular or rectangular, leathery or thick papery. 4-12cm long, 1-3cm wide, with a long acuminate or caudal tip, a rounded or broadly cuneate base, and sparsely serrated edges; the leaf surface is dry green, with obvious main veins and unclear lateral veins; the petiole is about 8mm long. It has a slight fragrance and tastes spicy and cool.

【Nature and flavor】 Sweet; spicy; slightly astringent; neutral

【Functions and indications】Detoxification and swelling reduction; dissipating blood stasis and stopping bleeding. Mainly used for sores, boils, swelling and poison; redness and swelling of mastitis; bleeding due to trauma; fractures; poisonous snake bites

[Usage and Dosage] For external use: 30g, double the amount for fresh product, mash and apply; or boil in water for washing; or grind dry leaves into powder and sprinkle or mix for application.
