[Original form] Perennial herb, 30 to 100 cm high. The stem is erect, slightly procumbent at the base, rooted on the ground, branched at the top, purple-red with fine hairs, and smooth at the bottom. The leaves are opposite, broadly ovate or ovate-elliptical, cuneate at the base, petiolate, coarsely serrated at the edges, slightly wrinkled and sparsely hairy. Small white or yellow flowers bloom in autumn. The head inflorescence is hemispherical, 6 to 8 mm in diameter, with long stalks, arranged in terminal, sparse, 2- or 3-branched panicles; the involucral bracts are short round, in about 2 rows; the flowers are all tubular, bisexually symmetrical, 5-lobed, and often hairy on the outside; the anthers are truncate, with a glandular tip on top and a blunt base; the style is branched. [Additional prescription] 1. Acute icteric infectious hepatitis: 1-2 liang of Xiatianju (3-4 liang of fresh product), decocted in water and taken, 1 dose per day. When jaundice subsides and urine becomes clear, add 1 liang of lean pork.
