The flowers are in umbels of 3 to 10, growing laterally on the branches of the previous year, with a few leaf-like bracts at the base; the calyx is cup-shaped, with 5 lobes at the apex; the petals are 5, broadly obovate, white; the stamens are numerous, shorter than the petals; the pistil has 5 styles, separate, and the ovary is superior. Fruit follicles, with persistent style at top, glabrous. Flowering period is from April to May. Fruiting period is July to August.

[Habitat distribution] It grows on hillsides and sides of stream valleys, in mountain bushes, on roadsides and along ditches. Distributed in Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan, Fujian, Guangdong, Taiwan and other places.
