Compound umbels terminal or lateral; peduncle 5-8cm long; no bracts, rarely 1-3, linear; rays 5-10, 1-4cm long; no bracteoles, occasionally 1-3, linear; umbels with 5-15 flowers, polygamous, without calyx teeth, petals white, or with light red; style about twice as long as stylopodium. The fruit is oblong, 4-5mm long and 2-2.5mm wide. It is yellow-brown when ripe, with distinct ridges, one oil tube in each groove, and two commissures. Flowering and fruiting period is from May to August. [Properties] Property identification: The root is cylindrical or strip-shaped when cut longitudinally, slightly curved or twisted, single and rarely divergent. About 10-40cm long and 0.2-1.5cm in diameter. The top root head is broad, with a distinct sunken stem base mark. The surface is slightly rough, with longitudinal wrinkles or grooves. It is hard and brittle, easy to break, with a rough cross section, the cortex is earthy yellow, and the wood is bright yellow. The smell is weak, the taste is slightly sweet and slightly bitter. [Identification] Take the crude powder of this product and soak it in chloroform for 1 hour, filter it, and dilute the filtrate with chloroform to 10 mg/ml.
