【English Name】 Fudzino Grass Fern

[Other names] Dragon's beard grass, Magnolia gold, ribbon fern

[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Pteris serrata, Pteris family.

[Original morphology] Perennial epiphytic herb. Rhizome short, oblique upward; fibrous roots dense. The leaves are clustered, with scales at the base. The scales are long, subulate, coarsely sieve-like, and brown in color. The leaves are almost sessile. The leaf blades are narrowly linear, 30-40 cm long and 3 mm wide. There are two rows of longitudinal grooves on both sides of the midrib on the upper side of the leaf, and the midrib is flat on the lower side. The leaves are leathery, light green, and the veins are not obvious. The sporangium groups are attached near the edge. The spores are bifaceted, smooth and transparent.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: epiphytic on rocks or tree trunks under the forest at 1300-2800m.

【Properties】 Identification: The rhizome is short with brown scales at the base. The leaves are clustered and almost sessile; the leaf blades are leathery, narrowly linear, 27-29cm long and 3-4cm wide; there are two rows of longitudinal grooves on both sides of the midrib above, and the midrib below is flat. The sori are located along the leaf margins. The smell is faint, and the leaves are bitter and astringent.

【Meridian】 Liver; Stomach

【Functions and indications】Regulating Qi; promoting blood circulation; relieving pain. It is mainly used for injuries caused by falls, pain in tendons and bones, pain caused by overwork, stomach pain, infantile convulsions, malnutrition, eye opacity, and tuberculosis caused by dry blood.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 15-30g, large dose can be up to 90g; or soak in wine. For external use: Take appropriate amount of fresh product and mash it for application.
