[Source] It is the root of the tall mountain lettuce of the Asteraceae family. Dig up in June, dry and set aside.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 80 to 150 cm tall. The stem has soft long hairs when young. The leaves are basal and alternate, with long winged petioles, ovate or horseshoe-shaped, up to 12 cm long, with triangular, pointed, blunt serrations on the edges, and the base often clasps the stem and is ear-shaped. There are many capitulums, which are organized into narrow cylindrical cones; all of them are ligulate flowers, yellow in color. Achenes are obovate-elliptical, 4 mm long, with white pappus.

[Habitat distribution] Growing in thickets on high mountain slopes. Distributed in Shaanxi, Anhui, Zhejiang and other places.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy, neutral.

【Functions and indications】Relieve cough, reduce phlegm and dispel wind. Treat cold, cough and tuberculosis.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 2 to 3 qian.

[Additional prescription] To treat cough: 3 grams each of Aster tataricus, Coltsfoot Flos, Platycodon grandiflorum, and 1 gram of licorice, decocted in water and taken orally.
