[Source] Medicinal material source: The fruiting bodies of the Scleroderma macrosporum, Scleroderma smoothiflorum and Scleroderma multirooted, all of the Sclerodermaceae family.

[Original morphology] 1. The fruiting body of Scleroderma macrosporum is irregularly spherical or oblate, with a diameter of (1.5-5.5) cm × (4-6) cm. Light yellow, gray-brown to gray-black. It is smooth at first, but has irregular cracks in the later stage, or has rough, irregular small scales that are easy to fall off. There are roots at the base that are fixed to the substrate. The spore is dark purple-brown or bluish-purple-brown, with interlaced reticular patterns and small cavities separated by white septa. The spores are spherical, with reticular patterns on the wall and a transparent sheath membrane around them, with a diameter of 10-18μm.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: 1. Scleroderma macrosporum grows in sandy land, grass and forest edges. Visible in summer and autumn.

【Properties】 Identification of properties 1. The fruiting body of the megasporous scleroderma is irregularly spherical or oblate, with a diameter of 1.5-4.5 cm, and has root-like mycelium at the base. The integument is light yellow to gray-brown, with a smooth surface or small scales that fall off easily; it is thin and tough. The spores are dark blue-brown and powdery.

[Chemical composition] The spores contain 4,6,8(14),22-ergostatetraen-3-one (ergosta-4,6,8(14), 22-tetraen-3-one), 5α,8α-epidioxyergosta-6,22-dien-3β-ol (5α,8α-epidioxyergosta-6,22-dien-3β-ol), oleic acid and palmitic acid.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy; neutral

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and relieves sore throat; detoxifies and reduces swelling; stops bleeding. Sore throat; sore and swollen sores; frostbite; hemorrhoidal bleeding; gastrointestinal bleeding; traumatic bleeding

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3-9g. For external use: Take appropriate amount, grind into powder and apply on the affected area.
