[Source] Medicinal material source: the stems and leaves of the plant Artemisia selengensis of the grape family.

[Original form] Atractylodes macrocephala is a woody vine. Young branches rusty or gray tomentose; tendrils 1-branched or unbranched. Simple leaves are alternate; petiole is 1-3cm long; leaf blade is broadly ovate, 4-8cm long, 2.5-5cm wide, 3 deeply lobed, central lobe is rhombic, then 3 lobed or unlobed, with a few coarse teeth, lateral lobes are unequally 2-lobed or unlobed, sparsely covered with short hairs on the upper side, and covered with rusty or gray hairs on the lower side. Flowers are heterogamous, dioecious, with panicles 5-8cm long, axis and branches with rusty short soft hairs; flowers are about 2mm in diameter, glabrous; calyx is disc-shaped, entire; petals are 5, caducous early; stamens are 5. The berries are spherical, purple when ripe, and 8-10mm in diameter. The flowering period is from April to May, and the fruiting period is from May to August.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 15-30g; or mash into juice. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application; or take the juice and put it in eyes or ears.
