[Original form] Southern Akebia thin-leaved shrub, 3m tall. The current year's twigs are reddish brown, and the old twigs are grayish white. Leaves opposite; petiole 4-7mm long, base swollen, scattered with stiff hairs; leaves thick papery, leaf blade oblong, obovate, elliptical to lanceolate, with a wide range of variation, 3-8cm long, 0.5-3cm wide, apex pointed or long acuminate, base cuneate or obtuse, entire or with 1-6 pairs of teeth, ciliate, with scattered soft hairs on the upper side when young, smooth and hairless below except for the hairs at the base of the veins. 2 flowers grow in the leaf axils at the top of the side branches; peduncle is 1.2cm long, pedicel almost absent; 3 bracts, ciliated, central one is 6mm long, 2 lateral ones are 1mm long; calyx is about 8mm long, calyx margin is 4-lobed, lobes are ovate-lanceolate or obovate; petal turns light yellow later, 4-lobed, lobes are round, about 1/3 to 1/5 of the tube long, with short soft hairs inside the tube; 4 stamens, didynamous, hidden; style is slender, stigma capitate, does not extend out of the corolla tube, 1-1.5cm long. Seeds columnar. The flowering period is from April to June, and the fruiting period is from August to September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in hillside thickets, roadside forests and grasslands at an altitude of 800-3700m.
