[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Pileum cyrtonema, a plant of the Urticaceae family.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 30-50cm high. The rhizomes are horizontal and often grow in clusters. The stem is erect, unbranched, purple-red or yellow-brown, and hairless. Leaves are opposite, often growing on the upper part of the stem, membranous; petiole 0.5-5cm long; stipules triangular-ovate, about 1mm long; leaf blade elliptic to elliptic narrowly lanceolate, 3-13cm long, 1-4cm wide, apex acuminate to long-caudal acuminate, base cuneate to obtuse, margin crenate-serrate, rarely shallowly serrate, only sparsely short hairs on the upper side, stalactites extremely small, fusiform, densely covered on both sides, with 3 basal veins, and obvious bulges on the upper side. Dioecious; male inflorescence with long peduncle, nearly erect, 2-4cm long; female inflorescence with short peduncle, dense cymose corymbs or dense clusters, 0.5-1.5cm long; male flowers are large, 1.5-2mm in diameter, with 4 tepals and 4 stamens; female flowers are small, about 0.5mm long, with 3 tepals of unequal size. Achenes are small, broadly oval, about 0.7 mm long, with wart-like protrusions. The flowering period is April-May, and the fruiting period is May-June.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in the shade and wet places of hillside ditches and stream valleys at an altitude of 850-1100m.
