[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Glehnia littoralis of the Lamiaceae family.

[Original form] Stone-growing chicken-foot ginseng, a perennial herb. The stem is erect, branched, quadrangular, covered with glandular short stiff hairs and golden glandular dots; the lateral veins are 4-5 pairs, arcuate. The cyme has 4-6 flowers, arranged in a raceme; the bracts are small, ovate, about 2.5mm long, with short stiff hairs on the bottom and ciliate; the calyx is rose-red, broadly tubular, about 6.5mm long, with short stiff hairs on the outside, the upper lip is broadly round, the lower lip has 4 teeth, the first 2 teeth are subulate, the 2 side teeth are triangular, and the tips are all thorn-shaped. The first 2 teeth are nearly twice as long as the 2 side teeth. When fruiting, the calyx enlarges and the upper lip is turned outward; the corolla is white, about 1.5cm long, with fine soft hairs and glandular dots on the outside, the upper lip has 4 circular lobes, and the lower lip is obovate-spoon-shaped; there are 4 stamens, slightly exposed, the front pair is slightly longer, the filaments are separated, and the anthers are merged into 1 room; the tip of the style is capitate and slightly concave; the front of the disk is finger-shaped and swollen. The nutlets are nearly triangular-spherical, rusty, and have small tubercles. The flowering period is from July to August, and the fruiting period is from August to November.
