【English name】 kuangtung Lepisorus

[Other names] Small golden knife, leaf under the seed, big sickle, domino stretch, independent branch, sword dan, a gun

[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of the Polypodiaceae plant Vogelia truncatula.

【Original morphology】Plant height 25-40cm. The rhizome grows horizontally and is covered with black, ovate-lanceolate scales, which are gradually pointed at the apex and slightly serrated at the edges, and eventually fall off. Leaves are distal; petiole 3-6cm long, scaly at base, black-brown, glabrous upward; leaf blade leathery, narrowly lanceolate, 25-35cm long, 2-3cm wide, widest below the middle, gradually narrowing at both ends, apex long acuminate or caudate, base cuneate, entire, dark green, with spotted water sacs above, sparsely scaled along the midrib below, slightly curled after drying; midrib slightly raised on both sides, lateral veins inconspicuous. The sori are round, orange-yellow in color, arranged in a row on each side of the midrib, and located between the midrib and the leaf edge.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows on tree trunks or rocks under the forest.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter; Cool

[Entry] Enters the lung, spleen, and bladder meridians

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies; promotes diuresis and relieves stranguria; stops bleeding. It is used to treat sore throat, carbuncle, ulcer, burn, snake bite, infantile convulsion, vomiting and diarrhea, pyretic stranguria, and vomiting blood.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 10-60g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.

[Discussions by various scholars] "Hunan Materia Medica": Used for sore throat, infantile convulsions, nephritis, and urethritis. Vomiting blood, gastroenteritis, burns, snake bites; sporangium is used to treat leprosy.
