Limonium

Limonium

Fresh cut Limonium is a perennial herbaceous flower of the genus Limonium in the family Cyathea. It is native to the Mediterranean coastal area. It likes a warm, sunny, dry, cool, well-ventilated environment and avoids damp, cold and hot weather. Its branches are hard, the flowers are bright in shape, the petals are tiny, and the flowers grow in a pagoda shape with clear structure and bright colors. Let’s discuss how to preserve fresh cut flowers of Limonium. I hope everyone can understand the interpretation of these aspects.

Cold storage treatment: After the fresh cut flowers of Limonium are picked and sorted, they should be placed in a freezer for precooling and preservative treatment. The preservative treatment is very effective in preventing the stems and wings from losing their green color. When storing for a short period of time, the blood-replenishing grass can be placed directly in the vase of liquid, and safflower can also be effectively avoided.

1. The key feature of fresh cut flowers is that the post-harvest processing technology is simple and suitable for making flowers or dried flowers.

2. During the growth process, the petals should be harvested when most of them are open and colored; or they can be harvested at an earlier stage and then treated with a preservative containing gibberellins to promote opening. The petals of Limonium are fine and filmy, and its flowers and stems have low water content. Generally, the flowers are harvested when they are in bloom and their color characteristics can be fully displayed. Cutting should be done in the morning or evening.

3. The service life of the vase is about 7-14 days in water and slightly longer in refrigerated liquid. Fresh dried flowers can last for a year.

4. Preservative solution:

(1) Flower bud opening liquid: Add 20 mg of gibberellin (GA3) and 30 mg of silver nitrate per liter of water. No sugar is needed. The liquid temperature is 38-40 degrees Celsius. It is processed at room temperature of 21 degrees Celsius until a proper proportion of petals are open, and then transferred to 4 degrees Celsius for storage.

(2) Bottle maintenance solution: Add 25 mg of silver nitrate and 75 mg of sodium citrate to each liter of water.

5. Storage and transportation technology: dry storage at 2-3 degrees Celsius for 1-2 weeks, or wet storage for 2-3 weeks. After storage, the service life of cut large vase arrangements is reduced. The surface of fresh cut flowers needs to be dry, otherwise they are prone to gray mold.
