[Original form] Swamp-born water horsetooth, one-year-old plant, 30-40cm tall. The stem is slender and much branched. Leaves are opposite, often densely packed in a rosette at the top of the stem; in aquatic plants, the rosette leaves float on the water surface, the leaf blades are obovate or slightly obtuse, gradually narrowing at the base, sparsely covered with small brown spots on both sides, and have 3 veins; stem leaves are spoon-shaped or linear, 6-12mm long and 2-5mm wide; sessile. Flowers are unisexual, monoecious, solitary in leaf axils, supported by two bracteoles; male flowers have one stamen, slender filaments 2-4mm long, and small cordate anthers about 0.3mm long; female flowers have an obovate ovary about 0.5mm long, with a rounded and slightly concave top, and two slender styles. The fruit is obovate-elliptical, 1-1.5 mm long, with wings only on the upper edge and a short stalk at the base.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in still water or swamp water or wetlands at an altitude of 700-3800m.
