[Source] It is the tuberous root of Aconitum kunmingense, a plant of the Ranunculaceae family . Dig it up in autumn and winter, remove the remaining stems and fibrous roots, boil it in boiling water for 4 hours, or soak it in lime water for 7 days, rinse it in clean water for 3 days, take it out and dry it.

【Original form】Herb. There are 2 tubers, 2.5 to 7 cm long. The stem is twining, up to 3-4 m long, sparsely covered with recurved fine hairs or almost glabrous. Leaves are alternate, pentagonal-reniform or triangular-ovate, 5-10 cm long, 7-10 cm wide, 3-lobed or nearly to the base, the central lobe is broadly rhombic, acute at the apex, 2-lobed, 2 lobes with sparse lobule and teeth, sparsely covered with short procumbent hairs on the surface. Inflorescence conical, with 3-6 flowers; inflorescence axis and pedicel densely covered with retroflexed light yellow pubescence; pedicel 2-4 cm long; bracteoles narrowly linear; flower 2.8-3.4 cm long; sepals 5, purple-blue, densely covered with pubescence on the outside, upper sepal high helmet-shaped; petals 2; carpels 5. The follicles split at the inner sutures and contain many seeds.

[Habitat distribution] Growing in mountain bushes. Distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan.

[Preparation] Soak the Aconitum with the decoction of licorice, black beans and ginger juice until it is thoroughly soaked. Take it out and steam it for 12 hours. Take it out and dry it in the sun.
