[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Conothia sinensis of the Lamiaceae family.

[Original form] Chinese coneflower, perennial herb, 24-80cm tall. The stem is erect, quadrangular in the upper part, nearly woody in the lower part, and densely covered with stellate hairs. Leaves opposite; petiole 2-6cm long, densely stellate tomentose; leaf blade elliptic or ovate-elliptic, 4-13cm long, 2-7cm wide, obtuse at apex, obtuse and rounded at base, margin with unequal coarse teeth or almost entire, densely stellate tomentose and obtuse or rounded at margin, densely stellate tomentose and short stiff hairs at upper surface, densely stellate tomentose beneath. Cymes with 4-many flowers, solitary or forming panicles, axillary or born at the base of the stem, bracts shaped or lanceolate, 11-16mm long, with stellate short hairs on the underside; bracteoles linear, never longer than bracts, calyx narrowly campanulate, 12-13mm long, densely covered with stellate hairs on the outside, with 5 calyx teeth. Lanceolate, with acuminate tip; corolla light yellow or white, about 5.2cm long, sparsely pubescent on the outside, glabrous on the inside, upper lip slightly concave at the tip, lower lip 3-lobed, middle lobe nearly obovate with irregular wavy edges, lateral lobes oval with wavy edges; 4 stamens, the front pair longer. With fine hairs, the drug is triangular, about 4mm long, brown, with small protrusions. The flowering period is from July to August, and the fruiting period is from August to December.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown under dense forests in valley wetlands at an altitude of 460-650m.

【Functions and indications】Nourishes Qi and blood; eliminates rheumatism; dredges meridians; reduces swelling and toxins. Deficiency of Qi and blood; rheumatic pain; cramps and numbness; bleeding from knife wounds; mouth ulcers

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3-10g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application; or decoct it in water for washing.
