[Source] The meat or whole body of the dace carp of the family Carpidae. Can be caught year round. When encountering one, they would sprinkle mud and sand on it, or send hunting dogs to search for it in its cave. When the dace carp sees a dog or is covered with mud and sand, it will curl up into a ball, making it very easy to catch.

[Original form] The body is long and narrow, and the length of adults varies greatly, ranging from 50 to 100 cm. The head is conical. The snout is pointed, the tongue is long and thin, and there are no teeth. Small ears. The tail is flat and long, with a slightly raised back. The forelimbs are slightly longer than the hind limbs, each with five toes and strong and sharp claws. From the head, back, body sides to the tail tip, they are all covered with hard keratin scales arranged in a shingle-like manner. The scales are black-brown or gray-brown, with sparse hairs between the scales; the dorsal scales are broad diamond-shaped; the scales on the ventral side, the inner side of the forelimbs near the abdomen, and the posterior vertebrae are shield-shaped, with a keel-like protrusion in the center; the tail and side scales are star-shaped. The chin, cheeks, eyes, ears, chest and abdomen to the base of the tail are scale-free and covered with sparse brown hair. The female has two pairs of nipples on her chest.

[Habitat distribution] Distributed in Guangdong, Hainan Island, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Taiwan, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangsu and other places.

[Additional prescription] To treat leprosy: Take one live dace carp, pick the largest one. Use one pound of raw tung oil (half a pound for smaller ones), first use one qian of realgar powder, seven fen of myrrh powder, and one liang of yellow spear powder, and mix them into the raw tung oil until smooth. Put the dace carp on a stand and scorch it with charcoal fire to make it thirsty and open its mouth. Then pour the medicine powder and oil into its mouth. If it does not want to eat it, bake it again until all the oil is eaten up. Turn up the heat again and roast the dace carp until it is crispy, then grind it into fine powder. Add one or two ounces of Baicao Frost, grind them into powder, put them into a porcelain bottle, and seal it tightly to prevent air from leaking. Use five cents each time, mix with liquor and drink, cover with a cotton quilt and lie down for about an hour, wait until you sweat all over your body, take another five cents the next day.
