[Source] Medicinal material source: the root and rhizome of the Liliaceae plant Abacus obtuse.

[Original form] Abacus obtuse-leaved is a perennial herb, 15-30cm tall. The rhizome is slender, horizontal, densely covered with numerous fibrous roots, slightly fleshy, and densely covered with white hairs. Stems unbranched or branched above middle, smooth. Leaves are alternate, 5-12 in number, sessile; leaf blades are oblong or elliptic-lanceolate, 5-7 cm long, 2-3 cm wide, acuminate at apex, cordate at base, clasping the stem, with eyelash-like fine serrations on the edges. Flowers solitary in upper leaf axils; pedicels 2-2.5cm long, with knee-like joints above the middle, drooping; tepals campanulate, 6-parted, light yellow, sometimes with small purple spots inside, oblong-lanceolate, acicular or sickle-shaped at the top; 6 stamens, less than half the length of tepals, short and thick filaments, anthers long-arrow-shaped, 3-4mm long; ovary 3-chambered, spherical, stigma 3-lobed to below the middle. The berries are spherical and red when ripe. The flowering period is July, and the fruiting period is August-September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing under coniferous forests on hillsides at an altitude of 2200-3600m.
