[Source] It is the root of the pepper plant Pseudoconopsis konjac .

[Original form] Bare shrub or subshrub. The base of the stem is creeping, the upper part is erect or climbing, and the nodes are swollen. The leaves are alternate, nearly membranous, broadly ovate or nearly round, about 7-12 cm long, about 5-10 cm wide, with short pointed apex, nearly truncated or shallowly cordate base, entire; green; 5-7 main veins, reticulate veins; petiole 1-3 cm long. The flowers are small and monoecious; the spike inflorescence emerges from the leaf axils at the end of the stem, the male inflorescence is about 2.5 cm long, and the female inflorescence is 6-8 mm long; the inflorescence stalk is 1-2.5 cm long; the bracts are shield-shaped, fused to the central axis, and about 6 mm in diameter; there is no perianth, and the styles are 3-5, which are not very convex at first and finally bend outwards. The berries are densely packed in a mulberry shape and are green in color. Flowering period is autumn. The fruiting period is autumn and winter.

[Habitat distribution] Grown in semi-shade in gardens or woods. Distributed in southern my country.

[Usage and Dosage] For internal use: decoct in water, use 3 to 5 qian fresh. For external use: mash and apply or decoct in water for washing.
