The flowers are 1 to 3 or more sparsely planted in a cyme at the end of the stem; the calyx is long and rod-shaped, with 10 veins, scattered long soft hairs, 5-lobed at the apex, and the edges are membranous and lavender; there are 5 petals, with irregular and deeply lobed edges, dark red, and there is also a white variant; there are 10 stamens; the ovary is cylindrical, with a stalk, and 5 styles. The capsule is long and stick-shaped, swollen at the top, and the calyx is persistent. Flowering period is from July to August.
