[Original form] Torch flower, shrub, 1-2m high. Branches densely covered with rusty stellate hairs. Leaves are opposite; petiole is 1-2cm long, covered with stellate hairs; leaf blade is ovate or ovate-lanceolate, 7-11cm long, 2.5-4.5cm wide, acuminate at apex, rounded at base, with small rounded edges, and covered with stellate hairs on both sides. The cymes have 6-20 flowers, often on the side branches, mostly forming lateral clusters, heads or racemes, all of which are more or less covered with stellate hairs; bracts are short and linear; pedicels are about 1mm long; calyx is tubular-bell-shaped, about 6mm long, covered with stellate hairs on the outside, with 5 calyx teeth, straight, broadly triangular, and about 1mm long; corolla is orange-red or scarlet, 2-2.5cm long, covered with sparse stellate hairs on the outside, the upper lip is ovate, slightly 2-lobed, slightly helmet-shaped, and the lower lip is open, 3-lobed, and the lobes are ovate; stamens are 4, the front pair is longer inside, filaments are slightly bearded, and anthers are 2-chambered; ovary has glandular dots, style is 2-lobed, and disk is flat-topped. The nutlets are oblanceolate, with a cockscomb-shaped membranous wing at the tip. The flowering period is from August to December, and the fruiting period is from October to January of the following year.
