[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Cyperus rotundus, a plant of the Cyperaceae family.

[Original form] Cyperus sedge, perennial herb, 30-70cm tall. The rhizome is slender. The culms are scattered, coarsely packed, sharply triangular, and rougher on the upper part. The leaves are 6-8mm wide and have rough edges. Leaf sheaths short, light brown. Leaf-like bracts 3, longer than inflorescence. Cymes are compound; spike inflorescences are ovate, 1.5-3cm long, without peduncle. The peduncle is covered with yellowish coarse hairs; the spikelets are linear-lanceolate, 5-10 long, with 8-18 flowers, and the spikelet axis has white narrow wings; the scales are slightly loosely arranged, broadly ovate, about 2mm long, with a short tip at the apex, 5-7 veins, green in the middle, yellow-brown on both sides, and with white bright wings on the edges; there are 3 stamens, short and oblong anthers; the style is slender, with brown spots, and 3 stigmas. The nutlets are triangular-ovate, about 1 mm long, with a short tip, and black when ripe. Flowering and fruiting period is from August to November.
