【Source】 Medicinal material source: the whole plant of Solanum pubescens

[Original form] Erect herb to subshrub, 1-1.5m high. The leaves, inflorescences and fruits are densely covered with long yellow, noded hairs, unequally branched star-shaped hairs and straight thorns. The twigs are dusty in color, mostly covered with long-stalked stellate hairs and straight spines; the leaves are large and thick, ovate, 10-20cm long, 8-18cm wide, with short pointed apex, cuneate base, and 5-11 triangular wavy shallow fissures on the edge. The hairs are thinner on the upper side, mostly covered with long stiff hairs and sessile unequally branched stellate hairs, slightly thicker on the lower side, mostly covered with short-stalked stellate hairs, the midrib is slightly concave above and slightly convex below, the lateral veins are about the same number as the lobes, and there are sparse fine straight spines on both sides. The scorpion tail inflorescence is extra-axillary; the calyx is cup-shaped, about 1.5 cm in diameter, densely covered with short-stalked and long-stalked stellate hairs on the outside, 5-lobed at the apex, and the lobes are ovate-lanceolate; the corolla is white, nearly radial, and the tube is hidden in the calyx, 5-lobed at the apex, and the lobes are ovate-lanceolate, covered with stellate hairs on the outside; there are 5 stamens, the anther apex is elongated, ovate-acuminate, and the apex hole is upward; the ovary is nearly ovate, and the stigma is truncated. The berry is spherical, about 2cm in diameter, and densely covered with loess-colored star-shaped hairs on the outside; the seed chamber is flat, dark brown, and about 2mm in diameter. The flowering period is summer and autumn, and the fruit ripening period is winter.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows in valley wetlands, thickets, sparse woods beside roads, or under dense forests in the shade.
