[Original form] A small shrub with thin, horizontal rhizomes. The stem is slender, covered with glandular hairs and soft hairs, and has scattered prickles with slightly curved tips. It blooms in spring, solitary at the top of branchlets, with pedicels 3 to 6 cm long, covered with soft hairs, glandular hairs and small thorns; the calyx has 5 lobes, the lobes are triangular-lanceolate, with tail-pointed tips, recurved, with glandular hairs on the outside, and densely covered with pubescence on both sides; there are 5 petals, which are nearly round, white, with shallowly wavy edges; there are many stamens. The aggregate fruit is nearly spherical, about 2 cm in diameter, and bright red.

[Habitat distribution] Grown in sparse woods on hillsides, stream sides, and roadsides. Distributed in provinces such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian and Guangdong.
