The pedicel is 30-90cm high, with 1-2 branches on the upper part, obvious nodes, and lanceolate, sheath-like leaves on the nodes, which are up to 7cm long; the bracts below the flowers are similar to the sheath-like leaves and are alternate; 2-3 flowers are borne on the top of each pedicel branch; the flowers are white or slightly light blue, about 10 cm in diameter; there is no perianth tube, 6 tepals, arranged in 2 rows, the outer tepals are obovate or broadly oblanceolate, with bright yellow velvety appendages on the midrib, and the inner tepals are spoon-shaped; the stamens are about 2cm long, and the base of the filaments wraps around the style; there are 3 branches on the upper part of the style, which is light blue, with 2 lobes at the apex, and sparse teeth on the edges of the lobes. The capsule is oval, 3-4cm long and about 2.5cm in diameter. It has no beak at the tip and often has traces of a flat perianth. The flowering period is May, and the fruiting period is June-August.
