【Other name】 Longleaf ramie

[Source] Medicinal material source: The leaves of the Urticaceae plant Ramie.

【Original form】 Shrub, up to 3m tall. Branches often creeping, hairless. Leaves are opposite or alternate; petiole is 2-12cm long; leaf blade is ovate or broadly ovate, leaves on the upper part of the stem are narrowly ovate or narrowly elliptic, 8-17cm long, 4.5-12cm wide, apex acuminate or caudate, base rounded or shallowly cordate, margin shallowly serrated above the base, glabrous or nearly glabrous above, with sparse procumbent hairs along the veins below; lateral veins are about 3 pairs. The male umbels grow in the leaf axils at the lower part of the branches of the current year and have many flowers; the bracts are narrowly ovate or subulate. Female cymes grow in the leaf axils of the upper branches of the current year, and are mostly grouped into branched or unbranched long spikes, the latter up to 50 cm long; bracts are subulate. Male flowers: tepals 5, glabrous. Stamens 5; pistil obconical. The perianth of female flowers is narrowly elliptic or fusiform, with 2 small teeth at the apex. The stigma is about 1 mm long. Achenes are obliquely broad ellipsoidal and smooth. Flowering period is October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in mountain forests at an altitude of 700-1200m.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 6-15g; or stew pork.
