[Alias] Lingnan mangosteen (Chinese Tree Taxonomy), Lingnan mountain bamboo (Flora of Guangzhou), wood bamboo fruit, winter bamboo, dragon lemon fruit, Luolianzi, yellow tooth fruit, dyed tooth fruit (Wild Resource Plants of Guangxi), bamboo orange (Luchuan Materia Medica).

[Source] The fruit, kernel and bark of the Lingnan Mountain Bambusa of the Garcinia family. The fruits are picked when they ripen and turn yellow in winter, and the bark can be harvested all year round.

[Original form] Evergreen tree, 5 to 15 meters high. Simple leaves are opposite; with short petioles; obovate-rectangular or oblanceolate, 5-10 cm long, 2-3.5 cm wide, obtuse or pointed at the apex, gradually narrowed at the base, entire; leathery. The flowers are unisexual, orange or light yellow, usually terminal, but also axillary; male flowers are clustered in 3 to 7, with a peduncle, 4 sepals, round, 4 petals, usually ovate, and many stamens. Combined into a fleshy body, located in the center of the flower; female flowers are smaller, solitary, pedicelless, with 4 sepals, 4 irises, oval ovary, no style, and a shield-shaped stigma. The berries are nearly spherical, yellow-green, and 2 to 4 cm in diameter. It tastes sour and is edible. Flowering period is May. Fruiting period is October.

[Habitat distribution] Growing in woods on plains or at the bottom of mountains. Distributed in Guangxi, Guangdong and other places.

【Functions and indications】 ① Yao Kecheng's "Food Materia Medica": "It clears away heat, benefits all meridians, regulates water organs, quenches thirst and produces body fluids, relieves heat, and eliminates alcohol. It treats vomiting and loss of appetite, obstruction of the joints, spleen deficiency, and anal prolapse. It clears heat, cools the large intestine, removes blood stasis, benefits the ears and eyes, and treats cough and shortness of breath."

[Additional prescription] ① For treating burns, scalds, eczema, stomatitis, periodontitis, carbuncle and ulcers: sprinkle the mangosteen kernel or bark powder on the affected area. (Guangxi Chinese Herbal Medicine)
