【Other name】 Chinese Angelica

[Source] Medicinal material source: It is the root of Angelica sinensis of the Umbelliferae family.

[Original form] Angelica sinensis root is a perennial herb, 30-60cm tall. The root is cylindrical and the surface is brown. The stem has fine longitudinal lines and sparse hairs at the nodes. The petiole of basal leaves is up to 10 cm long, while that of stem leaves gradually shortens, with the base of petiole swollen into a tubular sheath; both basal and stem leaves are tripinnate and monopinnate, 9-13 cm long and 8-10 cm wide; terminal leaves are 4-6 cm long and 4-5 cm wide, with 3 deep lobes to the middle, and lateral leaves are often unequally lobed in 2, with short hairs on both sides along the midrib. Compound umbel, with sparse hairs; 2-3 bracts, linear, with short rough hairs, often caducous; 2-5 bracteoles; calyx teeth triangular-lanceolate, petals white to yellow-green, main veins obvious, flowers reddish. The fruit is oval, 4-5mm long and wide, with wing-shaped lateral ribs, 1 oil tube between the main ribs and in the rib grooves, and 4 oil tubes on the commissure. The flowering period is July, and the fruiting period is August-October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in the alpine canyon areas at an altitude of 3500-4300m.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy; slightly sweet; warm

【Functions and indications】Promote blood circulation and regulate menstruation; replenish blood and moisten dryness. Mainly used for irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, chlorosis, rheumatic bone pain, traumatic injury, dry intestine and constipation

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3-9g; or soaked in wine. For external use: take appropriate amount, grind into powder and apply on the affected area; or decoct in water for washing.
