Does Tongcao have any side effects on pregnant women?

Tongcao is an uncommon Chinese medicinal material. Probably only those who have given birth know about the existence of Cordyceps sinensis. Because Tongcao has a strong effect in increasing milk production, some mothers who do not have enough milk will often eat Tongcao to achieve the purpose. However, Tongcao is a traditional Chinese medicinal material after all, and all medicines have certain toxicity. So many pregnant women are worried that the Chinese herbal medicine Tongcao will have side effects on their bodies?

The aliases of Tongcao include Koutuo, Linan, Huochu, Yishang, Huacao, Baitongcao, etc. It is the stem pith of the Tongtuo wood plant of the Araliaceae family. The shape of Tongcao is cylindrical. The surface is white or light yellow with shallow longitudinal grooves. It is light, soft, slightly elastic, easy to break, has a flat cross section and a silvery-white luster. Odorless and tasteless.

The ingredients of Tongcao are very rich, including ash, fat, protein, crude fiber, polysaccharides and other ingredients. In addition, it also contains a variety of trace metal elements and multiple amino acids. The functions of Baitongcao are to treat urinary problems, gonorrhea, edema, postpartum milk obstruction, blurred vision, and nasal congestion. The main functions are diuresis, stranguria and lactation, that is, it is mainly used to treat stranguria caused by damp heat, urinary difficulty and postpartum milk retention.

1. First of all, there are no side effects if Tongcao is used to help mothers produce milk, because Tongcao is a lactation-promoting drug with a very good effect. We can use some appropriately if we have insufficient milk after childbirth. It is also very helpful for the body of the mother.

2. If a pregnant woman has insufficient milk after giving birth, you can add some tongcao when making soup. For example, we can make some tongcao peanut pig's trotter soup. After washing the pig's trotter, add peanuts and tongcao and stew them together into soup. It can be given to the mother to eat. This has a good effect on milk production.

3. Not only can Tongcao be cooked with pig's trotters into soup for postpartum women, but Tongcao can also be used with some urgent things to make soup, which will have a better effect when given to postpartum women. Moreover, Tongcao can increase the secretion of milk, but the medicinal ingredients will not enter the body of the newborn with the breast milk and will not cause any side effects, so you can use it with confidence.

Note: However, there is one thing that needs to be noted, no matter what you eat more or less, it will not have any effect, and may even have a counterproductive effect, so you can choose some high-quality Tongcao, and not too much.
