[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Oenanthe ovalifolia of the Umbelliferae family.

[Original morphology] Oyster palm is a perennial and sturdy herb, 50-70cm tall. The stem is creeping at the bottom and erect at the top, branched, ribbed, and pubescent. The leaf blade is broadly triangular or ovate in outline, 7-15cm long and 8-12cm wide, twice-ternate pinnately compound leaves, the final segments are whip-shaped ovate or oblong, 3-5cm long and 1.5-2cm wide, with acuminate tips, sharp serrations on the edges, and glabrous on both sides. The compound umbels are terminal and lateral, with peduncles 16-20cm long; there is no involucre; the rays are 10-24, erect or spreading; the bracteoles are lanceolate; the petals are white, obovate; the stylopodium is conical, and the style is erect. The double-hanging fruit is oval or oblong, 3-4mm long, about 2mm wide, with raised side ridges, corky, and semicircular in cross section. There is one oil tube in each groove and two oil tubes on the commissure. The flowering period is August-September, and the fruiting period is October-November.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in valleys, under forests, and in grass beside ditches at an altitude of 1400-4000m.

【Properties】 Identification by properties: This product is mostly wrinkled into a ball. The stems are branched and pubescent. The leaves are mostly wrinkled, with complete leaves ovate to rectangular, 3-15cm long, 5-12cm wide, twice-ternate pinnate leaves, leaflets whip-shaped ovate or oblong-ovate, 4-5cm long, 1.5-2cm wide, gradually pointed or caudal at the apex, with sharp serrations on the edges, glabrous on both sides, petioles 5-14cm long, fragrant, and light in taste.

【Functions and indications】 Tonifies Qi and replenishes blood; stops bleeding; acts as a diuretic. Mainly used for deficiency of qi and blood; dizziness; edema; bleeding due to trauma

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 10-20g; or mash into juice. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.
