[Original form] Viburnum lanceolate evergreen shrub, about 2m tall. Leaves opposite; petiole 8-15mm long; leaf blade papery, oblong-lanceolate to lanceolate, 9-19cm long, 2-4cm wide, apex acuminate, base rounded or obtuse, margin usually sparsely spreading with sharp serrations more than 1/3 from the base, glossy above, 7-12 pairs of lateral veins, the lowest pair sometimes almost tripartite, concave above together with the midrib and convex below. The veins are arranged horizontally, parallel to each other, and slightly raised underneath. The compound umbel inflorescence is terminal, about 4cm in diameter; the peduncle is 1.5-4cm long; the flowers are borne on the 3rd-4th level radiating branches; the bracts and bracteoles are linear-lanceolate; the calyx tube is tubular, about 1mm long, and the calyx margin has 5 micro-tooths; the corolla is white, radial, about 4mm in diameter, and the lobes are slightly longer than the corolla tube; the stamens are slightly higher than the corolla. The drupe is red, spherical, and 7-8mm in diameter; the core is flat, often square, concave on the ventral side with two shallow grooves, and convex on the back without a groove. The flowering period is May and the fruiting period is October-November.
