[Source] It is the bulb of Narcissus , a plant of the Amaryllidaceae family. It is best to harvest in spring and autumn. After digging up the root head, cut off the stem and fibrous roots, wash away the mud and sand, rinse with boiling water, and dry in the sun; or cut into slices longitudinally and dry in the sun

[Properties] The bulb is round or slightly conical, with a diameter of about 4 to 5 cm. It is covered with a brown membranous outer skin. When it is torn apart, the inside is composed of many yellow-white petals (scale leaves) wrapped around each other. Light texture, little odor. It is better to be big and full of inner strength.

[Chemical composition] Contains various biological alkaloids such as pseudolycorine, lycoris, narcissine, and Zhangzhou narcissine. Narcissus biotin has certain anti-cancer and antiviral activities.

[Pharmacological action] Intraperitoneal injection of 20-30 mg/kg of total bioalkaloids of narcissus has obvious therapeutic effects on Jensen sarcoma in rats, Crocker sarcoma in mice and Ehrlich ascites carcinoma.

[Processing] "Compendium of Materia Medica" says: "In early May, collect the roots, soak them in children's urine overnight, dry them in the sun, and hang them in a warm place."
