[Original morphology] Meconopsis pilosula is an annual herb in western Sichuan. The main root is short and thick, conical, 4-6cm long and about 1cm in diameter. All leaves are basal; petioles are linear, 2-6cm long; leaf blades are oblanceolate or oblong-oblanceolate, 3-8cm long, 0.5-1.5cm wide, entire or wavy, rarely with sparse teeth, and covered with yellow-brown curly bristles on both sides. There are 1-11 flowers, solitary on the basal scape; the scape is 15-50cm high, covered with yellow-brown flat, recurved or curled hairs; the petals are 5-9, dark purple-blue or purple, ovate or obovate, 4-5cm long, 2-3.8cm wide; the upper 1/3 of the filaments are filamentous, and the lower 2/3 suddenly widens into strips; the ovary is ovoid or nearly spherical, about 0.5cm long, densely covered with yellow-brown closely attached hairs. The capsule is elliptical, oblong or narrowly obovoid, about 2 cm long, sparsely covered with stiff hairs.
