[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Crassula ovata, a plant of the Primulaceae family.

[Original form] Biennial or perennial herb that bears fruit only once. Roots slender, with few branches. The rosette of leaves is solitary, with many flat leaves, 5-10cm in diameter; the leaf blade is spoon-shaped, nearly equal in length, 2-5cm long, widest near the tip, 4-8mm wide, the tip is nearly rounded, with a sharp tip, glabrous on both sides, with cartilaginous edges and fence-toothed cilia. The pedicels are 1 to several and emerge from the leaf clusters, 10-28cm high, covered with long, stiff hairs, especially densely near the tip; the umbels are many-flowered; the bracts are broadly lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, with densely ciliated margins; the pedicels are unequal in length, usually slightly longer than the bracts at the beginning of flowering, then gradually elongated, reaching 2.8cm in the fruiting stage, densely pubescent; the calyx is bell-shaped, with ovate-oblong lobes and longer ciliated margins; the corolla is purple-red, with a darker throat, 8-10mm in diameter, and the tube is slightly shorter than the calyx, with cuneate-obovate lobes, slightly concave at the tip, or with irregular small teeth. Capsule oblong, 6-10 lobed, purple-red. The flowering period is from June to July, and the fruiting period is from July to September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on hillsides, gravel terraces, etc. at an altitude of 1800-3200m.
