[Other names] Dendrobium candidum, yellow grass, chicken claw orchid, golden hairpin grass, spider plant (Guangxi Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine Plants), earring grass, fine grass, small golden hairpin, fine ring grass (Guangxi Commonly Used Folk Herbs).

[Source] It is the whole herb of Dendrobium slenderstalk, a plant of the Orchidaceae family. Available all year round. Remove leaves and fibrous roots, use fresh or steam and dry.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 50 to 80 cm tall. Root-like. The stem is round, shiny, yellow or yellowish brown; the internodes are generally about 2 cm long, covered with membranous leaf sheaths that are not easy to fall off. The leaves are simple and alternate, linear-lanceolate, nearly sessile, 4 to 4.5 cm long and about 1 cm wide; both sides are dark green, bare, with parallel veins at the base. The racemes are axillary, 3-4 cm long, with 3-4 nodes, each node has a bract, astatine, broadly lanceolate; 6 tepals, arranged in two whorls, 3 in the outer whorl, broadly lanceolate, light pink; 3 in the inner whorl, smaller, 2 of which are similar, pink, with purple longitudinal stripes, and the other has a small sac-like lip, purple-red; 1 stamen, fused with the style into a column; ovary inferior, 1-chambered. No results. Flowering period is from June to July.

[Habitat distribution] It grows on shady and moist rocks or trees. Distributed in Guangdong and Guangxi.

【Functions and indications】Nourishes yin, clears away heat, strengthens the spleen and stomach. It is used to treat damage to yin caused by fever, and coughing up blood caused by tuberculosis.

[Usage and Dosage] For internal use: decocted in water, 3-5 qian (1-2 liang for fresh ones).
