[Source] It is a plant of the genus Torricellia of Cornus (Torricelliaceae), including Torricellia angulata Oliv., T. angulata Oliv . var. intermedia (Harms ex Diels) Hu and T. tiliifolia (Wall.)DC., and its root bark , leaves and flowers are used as medicine. The roots and leaves can be harvested throughout the year. Peel off the root bark, wash and dry or use fresh. Best used fresh. Pick flowers in summer and dry them in the shade.

[Original form] 1. Loquat (mud tree, rotten loquat) is a deciduous shrub to a small tree, 2 to 7 meters high. Branches with annular leaf scars, sparsely pubescent or glabrous. Leaves are alternate; petiole is slightly flat, base expanded into sheath; leaf blade is slightly cordate-round, 5-13 cm long, 6-16 cm wide, palmately 5-7 shallowly lobed, lobes entire, base cordate or truncate, main vein palmately 5, with tufts of hairs in the axils of veins below. Small yellow flowers bloom in early summer. The flowers are unisexual and dioecious. The male flowers are numerous and densely packed in terminal drooping panicles. The calyx is short and 5-lobed; there are 5 petals, green with red, oblong, gradually pointed at the apex and curved inward; there are 5 stamens; with a reduced ovary; the female flowers are in sparsely flowered racemes, the calyx is tubular, 3 to 5-lobed, without corolla, and the ovary is inferior. 3-4 chambers, 3-4 styles. The fruit is drupe-shaped, round or ovate-round. It grows on ridges beside ditches in the mountains and is also cultivated. Distributed in Hubei, Sichuan and other provinces.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter, pungent, warm.

【Functions and indications】Promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, dispel wind and dampness. Root bark and leaves: used for rheumatic joint pain, postpartum low back pain, chronic enteritis, diarrhea; used externally to treat fractures and bruises. Flowers: Treat blood stasis and amenorrhea.

[Usage and Dosage] 3-5 qian of root bark and leaves; for external use, mash the fresh root bark and apply it to the affected area. Each flower costs 5 coins.
