[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Epilobium grandiflorum of the Onagraceae family.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 15-80cm tall. The stem is erect, often unbranched, hollow, more or less pubescent and mixed with glandular hairs, with raised ridges. Leaves opposite, alternate in upper part, rarely in pseudo-whorls of 3 leaves; petiole short; leaf blade narrowly ovate or lanceolate, 1.5-7cm long, 0.5-3cm wide, nearly acute at apex, obtuse at base, with distinct serrations on margins, densely covered with soft and glandular hairs on margins and veins. The inflorescence is drooping, densely covered with soft hairs and mixed with filamentous glandular hairs; the calyx is covered with soft hairs and glandular hairs, and the sepals are lanceolate; the petals are obovate, purple-red, light blue-purple, sometimes white, 8-10mm long, 3.5-4mm, and concave at the apex; the stamens have 8 filaments, 4 long and 4 short; the stigma is spherical and higher than the anthers when flowering. The capsule is 5-9.5cm long, densely covered with soft hairs and mixed with erect glandular hairs; the fruit pedicel is 1-2cm long. Seeds dark brown, papillate on surface; tufts white. Flowering period is from May to September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing under forests, in shrubs, in bamboo thickets or in ditch wetlands at an altitude of 1800-3000m.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy; slightly bitter; neutral

【Functions and indications】Promote blood circulation and regulate menstruation; promote diuresis and reduce swelling; detoxify and heal sores. Mainly used for irregular menstruation, edema, burns and scalds

[Usage and Dosage] For internal use: decoct in water, 6-15g. For external use: appropriate amount, mash and apply; or squeeze the juice and apply.
