[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Rhizoma Cyperi, a plant of the Asteraceae family.

[Original form] Red-backed rabbit ear wind is a perennial herb, about 30cm tall, with a short rhizome covered with long brown hairs. Stem erect, straight brown pubescent. Leaves are basal; petioles are 2-8cm long, densely covered with long brown hairs; leaf blades are ovate-lanceolate, 3-8cm long, 1.5-3.5cm wide, acute at the apex, cordate at the base, green above with grayish-white marble-like markings, purple-red below, entire, both sides and edges covered with long brown hairs, and stem leaves are extremely small, 0.5-1.5cm long. There are many capitulums, arranged in narrow or upper wider compound racemes, each with 3 florets; the involucral bracts are about 5 layers, the outer layer is small, ovate, the inner layer is lanceolate, with a very pointed tip and a membranous margin; the flowers are bisexual, white; the corolla is deeply lobed into 5 parts. Achenes sparsely pubescent; pappus light brown.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows in forests or on woodland rocks.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy; sweet; warm

【Functions and indications】Relieves cough and resolves phlegm; promotes blood circulation and relieves pain. Treats cold and cough; rheumatic pain in tendons and bones; swelling and pain caused by falls

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 9-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount, grind into powder and apply on the affected area.
