Leaves are basal; petioles are 2-8cm long, densely covered with long brown hairs; leaf blades are ovate-lanceolate, 3-8cm long, 1.5-3.5cm wide, acute at the apex, cordate at the base, green above with grayish-white marble-like markings, purple-red below, entire, both sides and edges covered with long brown hairs, and stem leaves are extremely small, 0.5-1.5cm long. There are many capitulums, arranged in narrow or upper wider compound racemes, each with 3 florets; the involucral bracts are about 5 layers, the outer layer is small, ovate, the inner layer is lanceolate, with a very pointed tip and a membranous margin; the flowers are bisexual, white; the corolla is deeply lobed into 5 parts. Achenes sparsely pubescent; pappus light brown.
