Woody herbs, 15-100 cm high, simple or branched, with thin and weak branches, slightly covered with short hairs. Simple leaves are alternate, oblanceolate, of varying sizes, smooth and green on the upper side, slightly pubescent and bluish-gray on the lower side, and almost without petioles. The stipules are extremely fine, like bristles, and are difficult to see with the naked eye. The racemes are terminal or axillary, with 6 to 20 flowers; bracts and bracteoles are very small, linear or filamentous; bracteoles are attached to the base of the calyx; the calyx is 6 to 8 mm long, deeply lobed, with rectangular or linear teeth, narrowly pointed at the apex, slightly covered with silky short soft hairs; the corolla is butterfly-shaped, light yellow; the apex of the standard petal is rounded, gradually narrowing to the base, and the margin is slightly hairy; the wing petals are obovate; the keel petals are tortuous, all with short claws. There are 10 stamens, fused into a monomer, and the anthers are heteromorphic; the style is long, the stigma is small and oblique, the pods are glabrous, cylindrical, and extend beyond the calyx; there are 6 to 12 seeds. The flowering and fruiting period is from May to November.
