[Source] Medicinal material source: The seeds of Amaranthus aviculare, a plant of the Amaranthaceae family.

[Original form] Annual herb, 1-2m tall. Stem erect, simple or branched, obtusely angular, almost glabrous. The leaves are ovate-oblong or ovate-lanceolate, 4-13cm long, 2-5.5cm wide, with acute or rounded tip, small awn tip, and cuneate base. The flowers are unisexual or polygamous, with axillary and terminal panicles composed of numerous spikes, erect and drooping after flowering; bracts and bracteoles are subulate, green or purple, with a prominent midrib on the back and a long awn at the tip; tepals are 5, membranous, green or purple, with a short awn at the top, the tepals and utricle are the same length; stamens are slightly longer than tepals; female bracts are one and a half times the length of the tepals, and the tepals are rounded and obtuse at the tip. The capsule is elliptical, with a cracked lid, 3 teeth at the apex, and the same length as the persistent perianth. The seeds are brown. The flowering period is June-July, and the fruiting period is August-September.
