[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole plant of Jasmine japonica of the Oleaceae family.

[Original form] Twining vine, 1-8m high. Branchlets brown or purple, densely covered with rusty long hairs. Leaves are opposite, trifoliate; petiole 0.5-3.5cm long; leaflets are papery, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, with obtuse, acute to acuminate apex, rounded or rounded cuneate base, recurved margins, rusty pubescent on both sides, especially dense on the veins below; terminal leaflets are larger, 3-12.5cm long, 2-8cm wide, with petiolules 0.8-3cm long; lateral leaflets are 1.5-7.5cm long, 0.8-5.4cm wide, with short petiolules 1-6mm long. The inflorescence is often arranged in a cone, terminal or axillary, with many flowers, slightly dense, rarely single flowers in the axillary; pedicels absent or with short pedicels, 1-5mm long; flowers fragrant; calyx pubescent, lobes linear or pointed triangular, 0.5-5mm long, slightly enlarged when fruiting; corolla white or light yellow, high-footed saucer-shaped, corolla tube slender, 1.5-4cm long, 1-1.5mm in diameter, lobes 5, oblong or lanceolate; styles of different lengths. The fruit is oblong or nearly spherical, 0.8-1.7cm long, 6-10mm in diameter, and black. The flowering period is from June to October, and the fruiting period is from September to the following May.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows in hillside thickets or forests.

[Properties] Identification of properties: The vine stem is cylindrical, mostly twisted into a ball, 3-5mm in diameter, with soft hairs on the surface; it is slightly hard, with a strong fibrous cross-section, yellow-white in color, and has a yellow-brown pith in the center.
