Clematis is a common Chinese medicinal material. We may rarely hear about this kind of Chinese medicine, but it is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine, especially for the treatment of rheumatism, eliminating phlegm, and dispersing bad habits. Clematis generally grows in deep mountains, especially in Henan. So how should Clematis be used? What are the medicinal values of Clematis? ① Effect on the circulatory system: 50% infusion (1 ml/kg) of Clematis angustifolia (i.e. Polygonum multiflorum) can lower the blood pressure and reduce the renal volume of anesthetized dogs, while the efficacy of its decoction is only half of that of the infusion. It has an inhibitory and then excitatory effect on the isolated toad heart, and the efficacy of its infusion seems to be about 3 to 5 times greater than that of the decoction. Its antihypertensive effect may be related to its inhibition on the heart. ② Effect on smooth muscle: The decoction of Clematis angustifolia has a significant excitatory effect on the isolated intestine of mice, which may be a direct effect on smooth muscle. It also has similar effects on the isolated intestine of rats and rabbits; it has no obvious effect on the isolated uterus of mice. ③ Antidiuretic effect: Clematis angustifolia preparations have significant antidiuretic effects on mice, rats and guinea pigs. This effect is roughly the same between the infusion and the decoction; 0.2 ml of a 50% decoction is approximately equivalent to the antidiuretic effect of 0.1 unit of vasopressin, and its duration of action seems to be longer than that of vasopressin. This effect may also be related to the decrease in blood pressure and renal vasoconstriction. ④ Hypoglycemic effect: Clematis chinensis extract has a significant effect on enhancing glucose assimilation in normal rats (that is, after giving rats a large amount of glucose, the urine glucose test is still negative), so it may have a hypoglycemic effect. ⑤Other effects: Intraperitoneal injection of 0.025 g/10 g (1/8 of the minimum lethal dose) decoction of Clematis chinensis (unidentified species) can slightly increase the pain threshold of mice (hot plate method), so it may have analgesic effect. The 1:3 aqueous extract has some inhibitory effect on skin fungi in test tubes. The white flower glycoside (white flower vine, the variety has not been identified) extracted from the sphenanthera fasciata has an antibacterial effect. Another type of water extract of Clematis also contains protoanemonin, which may be an antibacterial ingredient. The above is an introduction to the medicinal value of Clematis chinensis. It can be seen that Clematis chinensis has a very good effect on lowering blood pressure and blood sugar, anti-diuresis, etc., especially it has a good therapeutic effect on rheumatic bone diseases. Although the medicinal value of Clematis chinensis is very high, it must be professionally tested and used under the guidance of a doctor before it can be used effectively. |
