[Source] Medicinal material source: the seeds of the Chenopodiaceae plant Salicon.

[Original form] Annual herb, 20-60cm tall. The stem is branched from the base. The lowest layer of branches is often opposite or whorled, procumbent, while the upper branches are alternate, obliquely spreading, often tortuous, hard, with striped angular edges, densely covered with scattered branched hairs when young, gradually becoming smooth and grass green. Leaves are alternate; sessile; leaf blades are lanceolate to linear, 2-7cm long, 1-10mm wide, with sharp spines at the apex, gradually narrowed at the base, entire, with scattered branched hairs, and protruding, parallel veins. The spike inflorescence is dense, ovate or elliptic, sessile, and 1-3 axillary; the bracts are broadly ovate, with a small tip at the apex, and reflexed later; the tepals are 1-3, membranous; the stamens are 2-3, the filaments are conical, membranous, and the anthers are oval; the ovary is superior, the style is short, and the stigmas are 2, filiform. The utricle is round or oval, flat on both sides, or slightly convex on the back, with membranous wings. The fruit beak at the tip is divided into two small beaks, each with a small tooth process on the outside of the beak. The seeds are flat, round, smooth, and sometimes spotted with light brown. The flowering period is August, and the fruiting period is September-October.
