[Original morphology] The body is slender and slightly flat, 40 to 80 mm long, about 5 mm wide, with more than 60 segments. The back of the front end to the base of the mouth is green-brown, slightly red at the back, and light red in the middle of the back. The head is slightly hexagonal and has two pairs of large eyes. There is a mouth in the center of the ventral side of the head, with 4 pairs of tentacles, 2 antennae and 2 tentacles. The snout is divided into two parts, anterior and posterior, each part is divided into three small areas. The snout has no small teeth but soft protrusions. The small protrusions in areas I and II are not obvious, areas III and IV have about 20 small columnar protrusions, and areas V and VI have 4 large protrusions. Dark green, with 1-2 small protrusions on both sides, and a row of large protrusions at the front edge of zones VII and VIII. There are tubercles on both sides of the body segments, and there are a few bristles starting from the 4th pair. The papillae in the middle of the body have large basal lobes on the dorsal palps, and the ventral palps are of the same length, with inconspicuous basal lobes. The dorsal limbs are smaller, and there is a tongue-shaped lobe on the ventral side with many long bristles, most of which are paddle-shaped. The anal segment has a pair of small anal barbels.

Fujian people eat them with steamed eggs, or make them into paste and serve them to guests as a delicacy. It is said that eating them can nourish the spleen and strengthen the stomach. "Guangzhi" says, "When it rains in summer, the rice becomes steamy and insects are born, or the rice roots rot and insects are born." The big ones are as big as chopsticks and up to ten feet long, with a mouth at each joint. They are green when raw and red and yellow when ripe.
