On November 2, 2024, a carport in a community on Shulin Street in Kunming, Yunnan Province, suddenly caught fire. The colored steel tiles on the top of the carport had collapsed, the trunk of a large tree next to it was burned black, and more than 20 electric bicycles were burned. The fire started from an electric bicycle charger. Last year, electric bicycle owners were reminded not to use the charger if the temperature was too high, but to no avail.

On the night of March 13, 2024, a fire broke out in the corridor of a residential building in Ezhou, Hubei, trapping many people inside the building. After on-site inspection, it was found that the cause of the fire was that Yin , a resident of the building, illegally parked his electric bicycle and privately connected wires to charge it, which ignited the surrounding combustibles.
