[Original morphology] Epimedium is a perennial herb, 6-12cm tall. The rhizome is horizontal and about 2mm in diameter. There may be more than 15 leaves per leaf, all of which are basal; petiole 1.1-6.5cm long, covered with brown glandular pubescence; leaf blade leathery, ovate or elliptic-ovate, 0.8-3.5cm long, 0.5-2.8cm wide, acute at apex, rounded or shallowly cordate at base, coarsely serrated at margin, sparsely covered with brown glandular pubescence on both sides, with unclear veins. The flowers are small, terminal, arranged in sparse, spire-shaped racemes, with peduncles sparsely glandular pubescent; bracts are awl-shaped, about 3mm long; pedicels are thin, about 4mm long; calyx is white, campanulate, 5-8 rows near the base, the rows are lanceolate, acute at the apex, glabrous on both sides, with very small glandular hairs on the margins, simple-veined; no petals; 8-10 stamens, up to 3mm long; 2 carpels, fused at the lower part, ovary nearly superior, 1-chambered, 2 styles. The capsule is about 4mm long, with 2 forked lobes. Flowering and fruiting period is from April to October.
